Highland 4-H Club had its first meeting Jan. 19, with a small group of members, as there are only 12 members, including three cloverbuds.

National White Cane week is Feb. 6-12, and on Feb. 5, the Canadian Council of the Blind 100 Mile House & District Chapter White Cane Club will have the distinction of hosting the largest White Cane event in British Columbia scheduled for that week.

Lowry Olafson brought his song-writing workshop to Lac la Hache Elementary School on Jan. 19, and the students were treated to an incredible song-writing experience.

The Mt. Timothy Ski Society fundraising dinner and auction takes place on Feb. 5 at the Valley Room in 100 Mile.

Raising fish out of Sheridan Lake at the Highway 24 Interlakes Lions Club ice-fishing derby on Feb. 20 will do double duty as it is also raising money for the Easter Seals children’s charity.

Registration for 100 Mile Festival of the Arts is slated for Feb. 5 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Parkside Art Gallery.
