Winterfest

The 2011 Clinton Winterfest will be held over a two-week period, Feb. 12-27.

Whether you enjoy cross-country skiing, watching curling bonspiels, Texas Hold’em Fun Tournament, Firemen’s Broomball Challenge, Hockey Night in Clinton or any number of additional events, there will be something for everyone.

David Stoddart School (DSS) will combine PE classes with Winterfest-themed activities throughout the week. On Feb. 22 the StrongStart and Healthy Beginnings will hold a Diaper Derby at DSS.

On the final day, there will be a day of hockey events in the 47 Mile Sports Complex. There will be Kids Skills Competition followed by a kids hockey game. Then there will be a Men’s Skills Competition.

The final event of the evening will be an Over 30/Under 30 Men’s Hockey Game. The concession, raffle and draws all day will be sponsored by Integris Credit Union with proceeds going to the Clinton Recreation Commission and Minor Hockey.

Communities

in Bloom

The Village of Clinton has submitted the application on behalf of the Clinton Communities in Bloom (CiB) committee for the provincial competitive program.

The committee is preparing a new

program for 2011, as it strives to win its category and increase its previous percentage.

The committee is also looking at entering the 2011 Winter Lights Program part of the CiB Competition.

One project the committee is working on is establishing a Community Garden in Clinton. This would allow people, who do not have their own garden space to plant, nourish and grow their own gardens in a community setting.

This provides an opportunity to network with other gardeners and learn new techniques, try new plants and

share the gardening experience.
