Lowry Olafson brought his song-writing workshop to Lac la Hache Elementary School on Jan. 19, and the students were treated to an incredible song-writing experience.
Lowry, who is a singer/songwriter and performer, helped the students to write a song. After they finished writing their song, they recorded it for the website and then performed it later for the teachers and parents.
Lowry’s program is called, From the page to the stage in one day.
The students had a great time performing their newly written song, called Not Just a Town.
The song was a big hit and all about Lac la Hache and the Cariboo. The song can be found online at www.songs
bykids.ca.
Olafson was very entertaining and kept everyone singing or laughing.
Public skating
Public skating at the Rolf Zeis Memorial Arena is every Sunday from 3 to 4:30 p.m. and it’s by donation.
So drop a buck or two into the donation can, before you get on the ice, and please bring a helmet.
Resort re-opening
Fir Crest Resort is finally re-opening after being closed for several years.
It was one of the most popular spots to camp and fish in Lac La Hache since the 1940s.
A Calgary company took possession of the resort last October and plans to re-open it to the public on May 1.
Now, local families will have one more place to gather for good times and some rest and recreation.
Community sign
The Lac la Hache Community Club is looking for a couple of volunteers to take care of changing the sign when events are coming up in the area. It would be a maximum of four hours a month. If you are interested in helping, contact Sylvia at 250-396-4791 for more information.
