A benefit dance/auction to raise funds for the 100 Mile & District Women's Centre Society is being held at the 100 Mile Community Hall on April 30, and entertainment is being provided by the country rock band The Hoodlums.
For the second consecutive year, Leslie Read and her friends are volunteering their time to raise funds by holding the dance.
"The Hoodlums played last year and so many people came up to tell me how much they enjoyed the whole evening, especially the band," says Read. "They are back by popular demand."
The evening includes a no-host bar, free snacks, a silent auction, and a live auction, she adds.
"Rob Stockford is going to be our auctioneer that evening, and it should be fun. Last year was wonderful, as we raised over $3,600 to go towards the centre."
Read is grateful to the 108 Mile Ranch Volunteer Fire Department members who are volunteering their time again this year as designated drivers.
Tickets are $15 per person and $25 per couple. They are available now at Donex Pharmacy and Department Store, A&B Photo, Didi's Boutique and the women’s centre.
Noting she has been busy rounding up donations for the auction that evening, Read says she is very impressed with the generosity of the community.
