Players are needed for the teacher side of the Peter Skene Ogden Secondary School Grads vs Teachers Hockey Game.
Set to take place on Wednesday, March 5 at the South Cariboo Rec Centre, the annual fundraiser will see members of the 2025 graduating class square off against their teachers. However, lead organizer Deanna Anderson said they need some more players for the teacher's team.
"When I last checked there were four teachers, so I'm actually opening it up to elementary school teachers now. I know there are quite a few at the 108 who would play and they also taught our kids," Anderson said.
Anderson, whose own daughter is graduating this year, said the hockey game is an annual tradition and it would be horrible if they couldn't do it again. That's why she is inviting any elementary school teacher who taught some of this year's grads to call her at 250-644-4511 if they want to play.
The game kicks off Wednesday from 7:15 to 9:15 p.m. with all welcome to attend. Admission is $5 per person with additional donations welcomed.
In addition to the hockey game itself, Anderson said they plan to do a 50/50 draw, a silent online auction, a bake sale and a puck toss. For the silent auction, Anderson said they'll be auctioning off an 11-class pass for Union Movement, a bison herd experience from XH Buffalo Ranch, coupons for dog grooming, a handmade basket and a herbal consultation, among other items.
All proceeds from the night will go towards supporting PSO's 2025 Dry Grad. The concession will also be open during the game.
"I would love for everybody to come out and support (the grads)," Anderson said.
