Parkside readies for quake auction

Things are falling into place nicely for the Parkside Art Gallery Help Japan dinner and auction fundraiser at the Valley Room on April 9.

Claudia Ring says she and others who are involved in organizing the event were confident local people would support the fundraiser for earthquake victims in Japan.

"People are feeling kind of thankful that we are doing this."

She adds auction items are pouring in, with many pieces of art, a quilt, carpet, certificates for haircuts and even yoga sessions on the list.

"Items have been donated, mainly from private people, and we've been getting messages from people who want to help."

Additional donations for the auction can be brought to the event.

A potluck (participants can bring what they want) buffet, along with some live entertainment, will kick off the action at 4 p.m.

Both live and silent auctions begin at 5:30 p.m. and there is no admission charge for this event.
