Politics and the 'vague'

doesn't like former Bloc member leading NDP

Like many idealistic Boomers, I was engaged and encouraged by federal NDP Leader Jack Layton's campaign, as it presented an option far away from the acceptable, predicable "traditional politics."

We were presented with class, dignity, and leadership by taking us in a new direction. It's a direction that we really haven't seen for more than 40 years, or so I thought.

I spent much time supporting the NDP, and truthfully have not even considered voting for another party in some 43 years of elections.

The difference between the modern NDP supporter and myself is I believe in the party's platform. I respect and acknowledge the right thing will happen regardless of any delay.

As a realist, I don't expect any politician to be perfect, as I see mistakes and errors in judgment are accepted as part of the human experience.

After voting NDP since I was eligible to vote, I now find myself questioning that, looking to vote for leadership that is impeccable with their words. I have never been comfortable with "vague."

The appointment of Nycole Turmel, a card-carrying member of the Bloc Quebecois, albeit former, is not what I signed up for.
