To the editor:
BC Hydro is not telling the public the truth about so many issues because it is committed to this dangerous, expensive, poorly managed program.
Smart meters are capable of reading patterns from every appliance. They will be able to report on what is being used, for how long, how old the appliance is, etc. Look at this YouTube http://emfsafetynetwork.org/?p=5008.
The radiation testing done by British Columbia Centre for Disease Control was not done correctly or thoroughly.
BCCDC did not have the proper meter to read the high spikes during signaling periods. That is when the damage is done.
The figure of two microwatts is incorrect based on its own figures. BCCDC miscalculated and it is really 20 microwatts.
But this is the average radiation. Between spikes it will be zero. At spikes, radiation has been reported to be as high as 4,000 microwatts.
BC Hydro states the signals will total "a few minutes a day." I've seen statements saying from one to 13 minutes.
BC Hydro states the signal is only a millisecond or a few milliseconds. It won't give details.
Assume it's one millisecond for ease of calculation. There are 1,000 milliseconds in a second and 60,000 in a minute.
If there is a total of two minutes, that's 120,000 signals at very high levels of radiation a day, or 83 a minute.
Scientists say it's these spikes that cause harm, such as blood brain barrier leakage and DNA damage. And don't forget, this radiation is a 2b carcinogen, according to the World Health Organization.
In Ontario, utility bills have increased in 80 per cent of the homes with smart meters. And the increases are not small - 50 per cent or more in many cases. And there is nothing green - no energy savings.
Now you see why I said BC Hydro is not telling the truth. I could go on, but you should investigate. Go towww.emrabc.ca and learn more.
Call your MLA and Energy and Mines Minister Rich Coleman. This must be stopped.
