Last week, BC’s MLAs got to have a break from being in the Legislature in Victoria and return to our home ridings. And what a busy constituency week it was! It was amazing to have Priscilla, a legislative intern, as my guest in Cariboo-Chilcotin last week. Priscilla chose to shadow me and to see our beautiful riding. And boy did she ever!

Our week started off with the Spring Classic Indoor Rodeo and the induction of three incredible human beings to the BC Cowboy Hall of Fame, which I had the honour of announcing at the rodeo.

We visited the Chilcotin as far as Bull Canyon with stops to view land movement, bridges, fire impact, watersheds, and discuss other challenges in the area. That was followed by a day of meetings with the school district and the Ministry of Education, where we scored a pizza from Red Tomato Pies. That night, we attended an emergency meeting on crime, where the public shared their thoughts, and we agreed to work with the city of Williams Lake on new measures to address this issue.

We got up early the next morning for another full day of meetings in 100 Mile House before a quick trip down through Cache Creek and into Ashcroft to begin setting up an office for that community. The evening ended with a meeting in Savona with a constituent in this new part of my riding.

After enjoying a hearty breakfast at Hungry Herbie’s, we returned to Clinton for the grand opening of the High Bar (Llenllenéy'ten) First Nation’s new office space. I made sure to stop at some amazing places, including Dave’s, Hunnies, and Horstings, to grab us some sweet treats on the way home as well. It was a fruitful week, to say the least, and I am proud to have gotten to show off my riding and have Priscilla join me this week.

Here are a few words from her: “Thank you from the bottom of my heart to everyone across the riding who made me feel so welcome this week. I’ve had so much fun seeing the beautiful landscapes, eating delicious food, going to the rodeo, and even staying a night at the Bear Claw Lodge. Thank you all again for hosting me, and I will be back to visit for sure!”
