Slash pile burning will begin around 100 Mile House starting on Monday, Oct. 21.
The 100 Mile House Natural Resources District and the Ministry of Forests plan to burn 72 piles of woody debris and log decks at multiple sites as part of wildfire rehabilitation efforts. These burnings could begin as soon as Monday, Oct. 21 and are expected to continue until Feb. 28, 2025.
Burnings will only take place on days where site and weather conditions are favourable and will allow the smoke to dissipate.
Smoke and potentially flames may be visible at several different locations including Succour Lake where there are 20 piles of debris, Howard Lake where there are 15 piles of debris, the South Canim Lake and Drewry Lake area where there are 12 piles of debris, Young Lake where there are 20 pile of debris and finally the 93 Mile area where there are five piles of debris.
