TRU expands computer access for 100 Mile and area students

Thomspon Rivers University (TRU) has more computer space options in 100 Mile House for use by all its students in the community.

TRU 100 Mile Centre community co-ordinator Robin Bercowski says a wall has been removed between two small classrooms that weren't being used very much because the individual spaces could only accommodate less than six students each.

The renovation developed those spaces into one large classroom, which also allowed staff to bring the first aid course back into the main space and give up a lease on an extra room upstairs.

"Whether it's for our students who come to our face-to-face classes, or open learning, it's an extra computer set up for when the computer lab is busy or there is a class going on in there.

"We have an optional space for anyone who may need it."

While the computer space is still based on availability, she notes it's not often that both classes are busy, so either one room or the other is usually available.

"The new classroom has enough space for the first aid course, tons of room for 12-18 students, and when it is available, there is a computer with Internet access for people who might need it."

Aside from existing registrants, this also includes computer access for prospective TRU students who wish to search online for more information about potential courses or related university information.
