Snowy conditions earlier on Oct. 18 led to two motor vehicle incidents, warranting a response from 100 Mile House RCMP.

Sgt. Brian Lamb said the first incident was a single-vehicle collision on Highway 97 near Trout Road. RCMP attended with Emergency Health Services (EHS) where they determined the vehicle had left the roadway, gone down an embankment and ended up on another road, paralleling the highway.

Lamb noted the single occupant of the vehicle received injuries believed to be non-life threatening and was transported to hospital by EHS.

"Road and vehicle conditions were contributing factors as it was snowing heavily at the time and the tires on the vehicle, which was a rental, were in poor condition," Lamb said.

Later that same day, RCMP received reports of a collision between a pickup truck and a dump truck on Highway 24 near Thomas Point Road. On arrival officers determined the pickup had been travelling east on Highway 24 and the dump truck was travelling west when the pickup lost control and crossed centre line, striking the driver side of the dump truck.

Thankfully no injuries were sustained by either driver and officers determined heavy snowfall combined with road conditions were contributing factors in the incident.

Shoplifers reported

On Wednesday, Oct. 16 a theft from a business located on the 90 block of Highway 97 was reported to RCMP, noted Lamb. A male described as being short with a scruffy goatee wearing a tan jacket entered the business with a female who was described as short with black hair, wearing a red beanie and black jacket. Both of these suspects were observed shoplifting and Lamb said after being approached by staff the male became aggressive and they left with items that had not been paid for.

Windows smashed

The next day officers received a report of mischief and theft from a vehicle parked on Third Street. Sometime the night before the passenger and rear windows of the vehicle were smashed and several items were taken from the vehicle. This included a first aid kit, tools and insurance documents.

Forest Grove Refuse Station broken into

On October 21, 2024, RCMP received a report of a break-and-enter to the Forest Grove Refuse Station located on Canim Hendrix Lake Road. Lamb said that a person driving by the station had reported the gates appeared to be open.

On arrival, officers confirmed the gates were open and had been damaged, potentially by a vehicle. While officers believed the property was entered, nothing appeared to have been taken in the incident.
