PHOTOS: Armstrong demolition derby crunches, screeches and slams

The derby drew hundreds to Armstrong's IPE Grounds

Thanksgiving with a side of crunch.

For fans and attendees at Armstrong's IPE Grounds on Sunday, Oct. 13, the annual demolition derby served up plenty of smashing action.

Fans were lined up early in the morning to grab first-come-first-serve seats at the grounds, as the derby, which was absent for three years (2019-2021) has been an immensely popular event in the three years since.

Prior to the start of the action, a moment of silence was held for Tony Bailey, who had been a derby rider for many years in the 35er car.

Tony's son, Dominic, drove around his car prior to the beginning of the second heat, which drew applause.

Rick Crozman of car 35x won the first heat, as cars, trucks, and mini-cars all battled one another throughout the day.

Prizes were given out not just for performances, but for how much damage vehicles sustained, the best dressed paint job and many more.
