Just under 3,000 people are without power in the South Cariboo Tuesday afternoon (June 4).
Power went out for 2,949 B.C. Hydro customers at 1:19 p.m. impacting the communities of Deka Lake, Sheridan Lake, Roe Lake and Bridge Lake. The cause of the outage is believed to be a tree down across power lines with a crew assigned to restore power.
Environment Canada has issued a severe thunderstorm for the Cariboo this Tuesday. Conditions are expected to favour the development of severe thunderstorms that may produce strong gusts of wind, large hail and heavy rain.
A similar outage throughout much of the same area occurred last week when another tree took down B.C. Hydro’s lines. It took crews several hours to fix the outage.
