An advisory has been issued for Transfer Beach in Ladysmith due to elevated levels of bacteria detected during routine water testing.

Island Health has issued a swim advisory for Ladysmith's Transfer Beach.

A July 8 water sample showed high levels of bacteria in the water. Enterococci levels are 155 per 100 mL which is well above the recommended safety threshold.

While the beach is not closed to the public, based on these results, people should avoid swimming and other water-based activities until further notice.

Island Health will continue to monitor water quality and provide updates as more information becomes available.
