Highway 1 has reopened fully west of Kamloops after emergency crews responded to a fatal collsion.
Update:
Both directions of Highway 1 east of Savona are currently closed due to a fatal collision.
Tk’emlúps Rural RCMP Detachment said at around 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 2, frontline officers were called to a two-vehicle collision on the highway. Three people were transported to hospital with unknown injuries and another is sadly deceased.
“Motorists are asked to please avoid the area and watch DriveBC for updates related to the closure,” said Corporal Crystal Evelyn, Tk’emlúps Rural RCMP Detachment spokesperson.

Highway 1 is closed in both directions 18 to 30 km west of Kamloops due to a multi-vehicle incident.
The closure is between Tunkwa Lake Road and Cavesson Way.
There is no detour available and an assessment is in progress.
