Locals are invited to see if they're fire fit and try training with Sicamous department.
In a May 8 report to council, Sicamous Fire Rescue Chief Lorenzo Di Arcangelis said he was looking at introducing a circuit training course at the department, that would be open for anyone to try. At 7 p.m. on Tuesday, July 16, the public will have the opportunity to see if they have what it takes to be a firefighter by skipping rope, pushing tires and other activities that keep the crew in fighting shape.
In a recent Facebook post, the SFR extended the challenge to join them in a Firefighter Fitness Circuit, with "hands-on activities that our firefighters do both in training and on the job."
Interested participants should wear a shirt, shorts and athletic shoes, and are advised that space is limited so it's first come, first served.
For those who are curious but not up to trying it, they're welcome to come watch, learn what it's all about and cheer on the participants.
"Come out, challenge yourself and have some fun with our community's finest," the post encourages.
