The Sicamous Farmers Market starts this Friday, July 5 with vendors selling fresh produce to handmade soaps and everything in between.

The Sicamous Farmers Market, a summer staple, is ripe for the picking and returning serve the community on Friday evenings.

After a very successful precursor event with the Morel Market on May 24, the regular summer schedule starts July 5, in the Sicamous Legion parking lot from 4 to 7 p.m. It will feature all the favourites, including fresh produce, meats, eggs, baking, jams, jewelry and a variety of other vendors. Each week will also include a kid's event or activity, and a featured local farmer, service group, musician and artist.

As an added attraction on  July 5, the legion will be having a barbecue featuring hotdogs, hamburgers and the famous Branch 99 smokies specially made for them by Ritters House of Sausage.

As a member of the BC Farmers' Market Association, the Sicamous market participates in the Nutrition Coupon Program that helps low income families and seniors access fresh fruits, vegetables and other nutritious foods. The program is administered by community partners, which locally is the Eagle Valley Community Support Society, and provides registered households $27/week in coupons up to 16 weeks.

Additional information on the program can be found online at bcfarmersmarket.org, but registration must be done by contacting the EVCSS directly.
