Cariboo Chilcotin Coast Tourism announces logo contest winner

Quesnel-born artist Jason Toma's design chosen by judges from seven entries

A winner has been selected from the Cariboo Chilcotin Coast Tourism logo contest launched in December 2024.

Quesnel born artist Jason Toma’s design was chosen by a panel of judges who scored entries based on creativity, alignment with the CCCT brand, marketability and technical qualities.

“The judges had a tough time picking a winner since the seven entries all offered such exciting ideas for a logo that captured the incredible land without limits and the wide range of opportunities we have for visitors,” said Amy Thacker, CEO of CCCT in a news release. “Jason’s logo really shows off the freedom of our untamed area, and the incredible possibilities to be discovered across the CCCT.”

Toma’s entry features seven feathers on each left and right wing of a crow as a tribute to the 14 Indigenous communities in the area he was raised.

A star in the centre of the bird symbolizes the wonder and possibilities waiting to be discovered in the region. Its location on the bird also represents the region’s location within B.C.’s geography.

“Born and raised in Quesnel, B.C, and have always been in awe of the natural wonders of the Cariboo Chilcotin Coast region,” said Toma, who now lives in Calgary. “Many of my fondest memories include exploring the back roads and hidden treasures of our region with my Dad as we would go hunting, fishing or simply out for drive together. My Dad was also an artist and part of this logo design is inspired by his work as well.”

CCCT confirmed at this point it has no plan to change its logo, but the inspiration from Jason’s work will be used in discussion about the future of CCCT’s logo. More details on the contest can be found online at https://industry.landwithoutlimits.com/services/marketing/logo-contest/

“Jason did an amazing job encapsulating the CCCT with fresh creativity in his logo. We are grateful to each of the designers and artists who shared their vision on how to represent the Cariboo Chilcotin Coast and everything it offers to visitors,” said Shannon Lansdowne, CCCT board chair. “We launched the contest because we wanted to see the ideas inspired by our region – and we were pleased with the results.”

The contest closed at the end of January 2025.
