UPDATE July 17:
Vernon residents having to boil their water for nearly two weeks can finally drink safely from the tap.
The Regional District of North Okanagan (RDNO), in conjunction with Interior Health, has rescinded the notice in the area along 32nd Ave between 38th Street and Bella Vista Road.
"Bacterial testing results and disinfection levels are within normal drinking water standards in the distribution system," the district said.
ORIGINAL July 12:
A handful of Vernon homes and businesses remain on a boil water notice.
The notice was first issued by the Regional District of North Okanagan (RDNO) last week, July 4 in the area along 32nd Avenue between 38th Street and Bella Vista Road due to a rupture of the water main causing a loss of pressure.
Although repairs have been completed, residents remain under a precautionary boil water notice while Greater Vernon Water continues to monitor the integrity of the infrastructure in the affected area.
A further update is expected Wednesday, July 17.
Residents in the area may experience reduced water pressure, discolouration of the water, and/or air.
"Please run a cold water tap until the water has cleared," the RDNO advises. "An outside tap is preferred."
The level of service and treatment provided by the RDNO has been maintained; however, customers in the area should boil their water for at least one minute when preparing any food, drinking, washing fruits and vegetables, making beverages or ice or when brushing teeth.
