UPDATE July 12:
Water quality is back to normal for a number of Vernon residents.
The Regional District of North Okanagan (RDNO), in conjunction with Interior Health, has rescinded the water quality advisory issued on July 5, for Mission Hill, Commonage Road and West Kal.
"Bacterial testing results and disinfection levels are within normal drinking water standards in the distribution system," the RDNO said.
ORIGINAL July 5:
A water quality advisory has been issued for the Vernon areas of Mission Hill, Commonage Road and West Kal.
Greater Vernon Water (GVW) issued the advisory Friday evening in conjunction with Interior Health.
GVW says bacterial testing found a possible degradation in water quality in the affected areas.
"The Regional District North Okanagan is currently investigating the source of the degradation and increased sampling in the area will be done," GVW said.
Until the advisory is rescinded by GVW, very young children, the elderly and those with weakened immune systems are advised to exercise caution, and can choose to boil water for at least one minute when using it for drinking, brushing teeth, washing fruits and vegetables to be eaten raw, or making beverages or ice.
