With Remembrance Day on Monday, Nov. 11, legions in the 100 Mile House area will be hosting ceremonies and everyone is welcome.
In 100 Mile, the Legion ceremony will begin with parade mustering behind the Save-on-Foods at 10:30 a.m. From there the parade will makes its way to the Cenotaph in front of the community centre, 385 Birch Avenue, with the service beginning at 10:50 a.m.
Opening the service will be the Colour Sergeant with the March on the Colours, followed by the singing of O Canada.
After the Last Post at 10:58, there will be two minutes of silence.
Eclectica Choir will sing In Flanders Fields, followed by a prayer led by Padre Bobby Jack Evans.
A proclamation from Prime Minister Trudeau will be read as well as a message from MLA Lorne Doerkson.
During the laying of the wreaths the choir will sing a collection of songs and then Padre Evans will give a benediction and blessing.
Before the March of the Colours prepares to depart there will be the singing of God Save the King.
After the service, the legion will open its doors offering food, camaraderie and refreshments until 3 p.m.
There will be a speaker who is a direct descendant of one of the First Nations code talkers, who were soldiers in the Second World War. The general public is invited.
Clinton
A parade will leave the legion at 10:30 a.m. to march to the Cenotaph service at 23 Albert Street. The ceremony will begin at 11 a.m.
Forest Grove
Members of the Legion, Colour Party, RCMP and Cadets will meet in front of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 261, 4525 Canim-Hendrix Lake Road, Forest Grove, at 10:45 a.m. to march to the cenotaph for a ceremony. Afterwards the public is invited into the legion for a light lunch.
Lac La Hache
There will be a short Remembrance Day Service held on Monday Nov. 11 at the Lac La Hache Cemetery starting at 10.30 a.m. Contact Gale Ogden if you would like to participate with a poem, story, or music. There will be a social hour immediately afterwards at the Cariboo Pioneer Centre, 4822 Clark Street, Lac La Hache. Any or all donations of baked goods to go along with the coffee will be appreciated.
Mountain Spruce Community Centre
The service will begin at 10:40 a.m. to honour Remembrance Day, at 7571 Pettyjohn Road, Lone Butte.
