Shimmying is good for body and soul.
At least that's what the Baladi Babes believe. They put their heart and soul into every performance whether it’s at a community event, family celebration or just a troupe practice.
The Baladi Babes Belly Dance Troupe is an eclectic group of women who come together to enjoy dancing, laughter and friendship. Their different dance styles include, but are not limited to, Raks Sharki, Egyptian, Arabic, Tribal and Hip Hop fusion.
Troupe co-ordinator and instructor Cathy Bowen has been dancing for 17 years and teaching for 14 years. She has classes from beginner to advanced Monday and Tuesday evenings in 100 Mile House. Cathy also offers private, semi-private and group lessons.
Kerri Mingo began dancing in 2001 and after two years joined the Baladi Babes. She became Cathy’s assistant in 2007, and in 2009, she branched out to teach in Lone Butte on Wednesday evenings.
Come learn the beautiful movement of Middle Eastern dance while getting a great low-impact workout. Enjoy a fun evening out no matter what your age, shape or size.
Both Cathy and Kerri teach several 10-week sessions throughout the year and Cathy puts on a techniques workshop during the summer.
