If you're planning a wedding this summer and looking for decor, look no further than the South Cariboo's Folk n Flower Co.
Based out of Lone Butte, Folk n Flower is a decor and events rental company that offers decor options and photoshoot opportunities for those planning their weddings. They range from Williams Lake to Kamloops to offer their services.
"We basically provide equipment for any special events as well as decor, and offer basically rentals for weddings and birthday parties or even bridal showers or baby showers," said Sarah Ward, who owns and operates the company with her husband.
Ward said she founded the company in 2021 because she had found it difficult and "hard to find everything that I was looking for."
"So with this company, it just kind of gives the brides and grooms that stress-free, kind of planning that everything is set up for them. I can ask all the questions that they might not think about asking or even think about talking about, and it's just very detailed," Ward explained.
Her company has numerous wedding decor packages available for purchase including: Yellow Tansy, Hellebore, Himalayan Balsam, Field Scalbous and Ceremony. Yellow Tansy is the "foundation of any event, perfect for intimate gatherings with 50 and upwards to 150" according to their website. Himalayan Balsam, which is Ward's personal favourite, can accommodate up to 150 guests.
"It has everything you would need, plus a little extra going from yard games and just little guests favourites," said Ward about the Himalayan Balsam package.
Field Scalbous accommodates up to 150 guests and includes a photo booth, Hellebore accommodates up to 50 guests with a hexagon archway, eight benches for seating as well as a bean bag toss, curtain wall and photo booth area. Finally, Ceremony is "great for couples looking for elopements, a ceremony setup and to add it to one of our wedding decor packages."
In addition, Folk n Flower Co has a variety of decor for sale, as well as photoshoots.
"I've worked with photographers in the past and set up photo shoot backdrops that were customized to what they were working for," said Ward. She also adds the photo booth isn't just for weddings.
"It's vast options that we have, it's not just special events that we do. We can set up for even New Year's Eve parties or Christmas parties."
Ward said she typically services two to four weddings per year, adding that Folk and Flower Co is a small business.
"But if, obviously, that's more than that we would make that work as well," Ward stated. She also added that the peak season for weddings is August and September.
As for advice she could give to anyone planning a wedding, she recommends choosing a company that takes care of all the little details to create a stress-free day.
"We take care of all the details, and that's kind of what is a huge stressor, for most brides and grooms, because they won't realize how much work it is to plan a wedding or get everything together," Ward explained. "It can be overwhelming initially, but once they kind of have a little bit of a plan going, then we can work from there."
