The Green Lake Community Centre (GLCC) Open House and membership registration at the clubhouse was a huge success on June 29.

The fun, information, entertainment and good food was available from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The warm sunny afternoon helped attract a lot of people from South Green Lake and other area communities.

The youngsters enjoyed the outdoor games including a Scavenger hunt set up by convener Diane Sullivan. Youngsters who had help from parents and/or elder siblings resulted in every child getting a great winner bag of goodies and toys.

Groups of children with big smiles on their faces sat on the grass and opened their bag of goodies.

Some of the youngsters played the corn hole game thanks to convener Jenny Gehl.

Eddy's Bar and Grill choir for the Wednesday Jam night in 70 Mile provided the entertainment on the deck. They did a great job from the start of the event until it ended.

Co-convener Sue Olliffe said "it was very nice and enjoyable."

She added there was information on GLCC membership and upcoming events. Some 45 new members signed up at the event.

Olliffe noted the $5 bison burgers were very popular.

GLCC president Doug Brown said that the BX Buffalo Ranch sold the burger patties to the club and the club cooked and sold the burgers to people who came to the event.

The Buffalo Ranch also sold buffalo meat and sourdough bread.

Brown noted local cowgirl and historian Marlene Wilson showcased her new book Riding with Hope and Resilience.

"It was very good and interesting. I was happy she sold some books."
