The trio of Barney Bentall, Tom Taylor and Shari Ulrich will reunite for a concert in Parksville on Jan. 26.
The musical collaboration better known as BTU will perform an afternoon show at Knox United Church starting at 3 p.m.
Bentall became well-known across Canada for his band the Legendary Hearts in the 1980s and ’90s. He is joined by multi-instrumentalist Ulrich, a master of the violin, mandolin, flute, piano, sax and dulcimer, and Taylor, whose band, She Stole My Beer, developed a cult following on Vancouver Island.
They first played together in November 2007 at a songwriter concert on Bowen Island, according to the band’s website.
One year later, they returned to Cates Hill Chapel and recorded Live at Cates Hill: an eclectic mix of the character, voices and songwriting talents of the three band mates.
With juggling all their respective projects it took until the summer of 2015 to embark on recording a second album.
Tightrope Walk was released in 2016 by the highly regarded Canadian label Borealis Records. With three very busy schedules to coordinate the trio manages a couple of tours a year and relishes the collaboration and camaraderie — and music.
The trio, each with a busy schedule continues to perform together year after year and share a love for musical collaboration and a good audience.
Tickets are $35 and are available online through Eventbrite and with cash at local retailers Fireside Books, Close To You Boutique and Edge Outdoors.
