You won't even have to go into the woods on Saturday to see some bears, and won't be a big surprise because it's time for the annual Teddy Bear Picnic at the Grist Mill and Gardens in Keremeos.
Not just bears, but animals of all shapes and sizes, and all kinds of soft, cuddly and plush, are invited down to the gardens for the annual picnic. Of course their human companions are invited too.
The picnic starts at 11 a.m., so bring your favourite stuffed friend and head down to enjoy an afternoon picnic packed with live music, story-time, games, crafts and more.
If your favourite needs a little TLC, whether from years of companionship passed down from generation to the next, or maybe just a spot of roughhousing with a stuffed tiger with a taste for tuna, there will be a Teddy Bear Hospital staffed with volunteer doctors and nurses offering minor repairs by donation.
The Grist Mill will also be offering up prizes for biggest stuffie, oldest stuffie, best-dressed stuffie and most lookalike (with owner).
Children aged twelve and under who bring their own stuffed friends will get free admission for the day; adults are $10 or $20 with a lunch voucher if prepaid through the Grist Mill’s website. Lunch vouchers for youth are $15.
