When members of the Port Alberni Toy Run heard that the community food bank at the Salvation Army was running critically low on food, they came up with a plan.

Toy Run officials approached Quality Foods and together, the plan became reality. On June 10, 2025 Toy Run officials presented Salvation Army staff and volunteers with $1,000 worth of food to fill the food bank's shelves.

This was an additional donation on top of what the Toy Run typically donates to the food bank, according to David Wiwchar, past-president of the Toy Run. "We heard they were running low," he added.
