Staff members from Paper Excellence's Catalyst Paper Mill join Port Alberni Toy Run representatives for a donation prior to the 40th anniversary Toy Run, Sept. 11, 2024.

Paper Excellence has donated $1,000 to the Port Alberni Toy Run.

The donation, which the paper mill in Port Alberni makes annually, happened just before the 40th anniversary ride, and will go toward youth-oriented events in the Alberni Valley.

Brian Fleury, Human Resources manager, and Brian Bradbury, maintenance supervisor at Paper Excellence's Catalyst Paper Mill, drove up in their own motorcycles to deliver the cheque to Toy Run members

"We're happy to support local events," Fleury said. "We like to see the money go back into the community and it's for a great cause."

The paper company also donated items such as fire extinguishers and power cords that are used during events.

Toy Run chair David Wiwchar said the organization is grateful for the donation and the ongoing support from Paper Excellence.
