Help send a local child to camp today (June 1) when Tim Hortons restaurant owners across Canada donate 100 per cent of the proceeds from coffee sales to the Tim Hortons Children Foundation.
Since 1975, the foundation has served more than 150,000 youths through its variety of camp programs.
"We choose different local schools every year to select children to go to camp," says local Tim Hortons owner Steve MacPhail.
"This year, the children will be chosen from Horse Lake Elementary School."
School officials select two disadvantaged children to attend the Tim Hortons Children's Ranch in Kananaskis, Alta. for a 10-day camp.
MacPhail has owned Tim Hortons for 10 years and says 100 Mile House and area has always been very supportive.
Today’s schedule of events include a tent outside selling hotdogs, (weather permitting), games inside the store, Tim Hortons petunia canisters for sale at $10 apiece, drive-through staff cleaning windshields, and the “rent-a-tent” promotion during which customers can personalize paper cut-out tents for a donation.
"Pop on by in the morning and see what the kids painted on the windows. The students were invited to paint our windows in a camp theme."
