The Canadian Ski Council has been saying “Hats off to Canada for the increase in helmets on,” recently after one of its studies indicated use of helmets on ski hills has increased from 67 per cent in 2006 to 71 per cent in 2010.

The council states helmet use of youths between the ages of 10 and 14 is 95 per cent.

To encourage even more people to

strap on a helmet,

the council has launched a new online contest.

The prize is a package that includes a backpack, water bottle, $50 Sport Chek gift card and numerous other items.

To be eligible, entrants will need a photograph of themselves wearing a helmet at a Canadian ski area.

Full contest information can be found on the Internet at www.skicanada.org/myhelmet.
