Swimmers from the Vernon Kokanee Swim Club (VKSC) took home a dozen medals at the B.C. Winter Provincial Championships.
Ten VKSC swimmers raced against 43 teams across the province, finishing in 20th place. The tournament was held at the Saanich Commonwealth Place in Victoria from March 6-9.
Brea Duncan raced in five finals, taking home one gold, one silver and three bronze. Senna Entner competed in four, and grabbed one silver medal. Hera Serzane took part in two finals and won one bronze medal while Kaeden Uesson raced in nine finals, taking home four bronze medals and one silver.
VKSC set 41 best new times, five new club records, and one new provincial time standard.
In the boys 11-12-year-old age group, Uesson swam to three new club records in the 100 metre backstroke, 200 m individual medley and the 50 m breaststroke. He also set new records for drop times in three categories.
In the girl's 13-14-year-old age group, Serzane set two new club records in the 100 m Butterfly and 50 m butterfly.
Top drops in time came from Emily Adam in the 1500 m with a drop of 15.46 seconds, Norah McIntyre in the 100 m backstroke with a drop of 6.33 seconds, and Serzane in the 100 m Butterfly with a drop of 7.29 seconds.
The VKSC's next swim meet is the Spring Invitational from April 12-13. Duncan will also represent the VKSC at the 2024 Speedo Canadian Swimming Open in Edmonton from April 10-12.
