The Bowhunters of BC (TBBC) brought its 15th Annual Traditional Provincial Championships Rendezvous to the South Cariboo on the Victoria Day long weekend.

The competition took place near 99 Mile, at the 100 Mile Snowmobile Club site, with the Bighorn Bow Hunters Club of 100 Mile House as the host club.

Several local shooters earned positions in the top 3 of their divisions, including Bob Plewes who ranked second in men's recurve.

Tamara Van Loon won the ladies' recurve competition and Sebastian Riley placed second in the junior division. Braden Riley was third in the Cubs division.

Dan Mobbs of 150 Mile won the men's recurve competition, and Brock Paton from Osoyoos was the winner in men's longbow. Kimberly MacLellan from Williams Lake placed first in ladies' longbow, and Ken Smith of Castlegar won in selfbow competition.

In the junior category, the win went to Brent Tahara of Coquitlam and Blake Goward of Chilliwack won the cubs division.

Participants camped during weekend at the snowmobile clubhouse site, and in keeping with tradition, the TBBC hosted a pig roast and salmon bake. B.J.'s Donuts & Eatery provided a breakfast and lunch concession throughout the weekend.

Bighorn president Yak Crame says it was a great weekend, and notes visiting shooters, including TBBC vice-president Rod Taylor, were impressed with 100 Mile House and with the local club.

"[Taylor] thought it was a great place to shoot and a beautiful town. He was impressed with the whole package."
