100 Mile House Figure Skating Club members wrapped up their competitive season Feb. 11-13 at the 31st Annual Ogopogo Free Skate Competition in Penticton. The club sent five of its skaters to the event, which took place at the South Okanagan Events Centre. Close to 230 participants came from British Columbia, Alberta and Washington State to compete. Brittany Boyd posted good results in the Pre-Preliminary Free Skate event with a bronze-medal finish. She also took seventh place in Pre-Introductory Interpretive. Nicole Pennock capped off her year with a silver medal in the Silver Interpretive event. Pennock, who is a Grade 12 student at Peter Skene Ogden Secondary School, graduates this year, making this her last season with the 100 Mile club. Daneya Tessaro earned a silver certificate in the Performance Program event, and Amber Poirier placed 10th in Pre-Preliminary Free Skate. Alyssa Lindberg took 11th place in the Preliminary Free Skate category. The club has one more in-house event before it ends its season. On March 10, they will hold a skating skills competition from 4 to 8 p.m. at the South Cariboo Rec. Centre and the public is welcome to attend.
