During the 12 years that Jessica White, from 100 Mile House, has been highland dancing with the local Wee Walker's club, there have been many medals and trophies that have come her way.

This past weekend in Kamloops, the Grade 12 Peter Skene Ogden Secondary School student picked up another aggregate award at the Interior Highland Dance Association Spring Competition, held at the Clock Tower Theatre at Thompson Rivers University in Kamloops.

The 17-year-old won three firsts and three second-place standings in the Premier 16 & Over division to win the award.

Another Wee Walker's dancer, Quinn Andrews, 12, tied for the aggregate trophy in the Novice 12 & Over division with three firsts and three seconds.

Meanwhile, Madeline Martin, 10, competed in Premier 12 Years & Under, and placed second in five events.

In addition to competing this season, White recently completed the last of her dance exams in the categories of Highland, national, sailor's hornpipe and Irish jig. She also passed the associate exam, which will be an asset if she chooses to teach.

White will be attending the University of Victoria in the fall and her dance instructor Carol Lidstone says she is sad to see her go.

"She is enthusiastic, intelligent, modest and has a great sense of humour. She has danced with Wee Walker's since Grade 1 and will be greatly missed by the dancers, their families and, particularly, her dance instructor and friend."
