It’s that time of year again when teachers and Grade 12 students at Peter Skene Ogden Secondary School are sharpening their skates and taping their hockey sticks for the annual Grad and Teacher Hockey Game.
It’s a light-hearted fundraiser for dry grad 2011 celebrations, and it takes place on Feb. 9 at the South Cariboo Rec. Centre.
Expect to see more shenanigans than skill as both sides will do their best to bribe refs and set up plays that are nowhere to be found in any hockey manual.
“The hockey is secondary to fun. This game is a biggie, and everyone gets involved,” says Caren Folster, a co-ordinator for the event.
Part of the fun will be a paper airplane toss, where for $1 people can fold up a paper plane and fire it at a target on the ice for a chance to win a grand prize.
The game goes from 5:45 to 8:15 p.m. and admission is
$5, with children under five admitted free of charge, says Folster.
“We’re hoping to raise as much as we can. The more we raise, the more we can do to keep the kids at dry grad for as long as possible.”
