Initiation level hockey is all about having fun on the ice and learning basic skills.
On Jan. 29, the 100 Mile & District Minor Hockey Association took it one step further and hosted Initiation Fun Day where the division's five- and six-year-olds had a rare chance to play some real games.
They invited a team from Lac la Hache to join in and between the four teams, had a blast.
"They were so excited about playing," says Holly Huryn, Initiation division director. "It's amazing the drive these young kids have to play hockey."
The four-hour event was further highlighted by a potluck lunch.
Initiation hockey has 45 registered players this year and the club provides their hockey gear.
