Figure skaters medal at Cariboots ‘n Blades

Practice and hard work have paid off for about 20

Practice and hard work have paid off for about 20 skaters from the 100 Mile Figure Skating Club (FSC) who competed at the Williams Lake Cariboots ‘n Blades figure skating competition on the weekend. The local skaters brought home one gold medal, three silvers and three bronzes, along with several fourth-, fifth- and sixth-place finishes. Michaila Robinson and Courtney Dolinski teamed up for the Pre Bronze Showcase event and captured the club’s lone gold medal. Silver medals went to Brittany Boyd in both Bronze Creative and Pre Preliminary Freeskate, and Nicole Pennock took silver in the Gold Interpretive event. A team effort won bronze for Emma Donnelly, Janeya Gage, Jordyn Karl and Haley Plewes in the Pre Beginner Team Manoeuvres event. Bronze also went to Alyssa Lindberg in Bronze Interpretive and to M. Robinson in Pre Preliminary Freeskate. Fourth-place awards went to Alyssa Lindberg in the Gold Creative competition and to the Pre Beginner Team Manoeuvres group of Heather Wolfear, Laura Dewsbury, Mikayla Julseth and Hannah Duff. Taking home fifth-place awards were Amber Poirier in Primary Showcase and A. Lindberg in Preliminary Freeskate. A couple of sixth place finishes went to Paige Archie in both Primary Showcase and Pre Preliminary Freeskate. Finishing in seventh place were B. Boyd in Pre Intro Interpretive; A. Poirier in Pre Preliminary Freeskate and C. Dolinski in Preliminary Freeskate. Silver certificates were awarded to the team of H. Plewes, H. Duff and M. Julseth for the Canskate Performance program, and in Elementary Performance, to the team of Melany Sanford, Daneya Tessaro and Tanisha Bali. E. Donnelly, who turned six years old in January, was presented with the award for being the youngest skater in the competition. Cariboots ‘n Blades was hosted by the Williams Lake Figure Skating Club and took place at the Cariboo Memorial Recreation Complex with 150 registered skaters. Coached by Rachael Lindberg and La Vern Howard, the 100 Mile Figure Skating Club was among 16 participating clubs from Northern and Central British Columbia.
