The Peter Skene Ogden Secondary School (PSO) girls' soccer team swooped down on Williams Lake last weekend for a set of exhibition games with rival schools.

The Columneetza Classic Play Day saw a couple of tight matches with Vanderhoof, which proved PSO was up to the competition. The first match ended in a 1-0 win for Vanderhoof, but in game 2, regulation time ended in a scoreless tie, which was decided in a shootout. Vanderhoof was able to squeak one past the PSO goaltender to take the win.

The going was tougher against Columneetza which shutout PSO 6-0.

PSO teacher sponsor Crystal Dawn Langton says she was impressed with how they played.

"The girls only had one sub and their morning games were back-to-back, so even though they didn't win, they came together and played the best I've seen all season."

The team will return to Williams Lake on May 15-17 to compete at the zone championships for a berth at provincials.

Their zone pool will see the team face College Heights from Prince George, Nechako Valley and Columneetza once again. Results from those games will determine which squads they play in the remainder of the tourney.
