The recent 2011 Canada Winter Games in Halifax saw Allison Briggs, 17, of the Kokoro Judo Club in 100 Mile House move to the quarter-finals before losing her match to Briana McCracken from Ontario.
McCracken was the eventual silver medallist and Briggs' coach contested the closely fought match, but the decision was upheld.
She competed in the Individual 48-52 kilogram Female division and finished seventh overall.
According to her home club coach and dad, Ian Briggs, the unwritten goal for the games was to medal and it was possible, as she had beaten McCracken in the past.
"It was very closely matched. She is among probably six girls in Canada who are at the same level and struggling for top spots."
Allison will next compete at the Canadian Junior Youth Nationals in July.
