108 Ladies Golf Club takes on positive changes

The 108 Ladies Golf Club held its annual general meeting on April 28 at the Farrier Pub, where they agreed on some changes.

The club plays on Mondays at the 108 Golf Resort and new for them this season will be a single start time of 1:30 p.m., as opposed to three different times, as was done in the past.

Club captain Janet Roux explains the change was made to simplify things at the organizational end. Women will now sign up by noon of the Sunday preceding each Ladies Night and their foursome teams and tee times will be drawn, and players notified by e-mail or phone.

"This will streamline and unify it for us."

The business ladies component will continue to have a tee time of 5:30 p.m. and will golf nine holes, while the others will play 18 holes.

Membership for the club is $55 for the season and green fees will be $30 each session for 18 holes. An optional $5 weekly prize fee will also be collected and prizes will be given out during dinner in the Tatton Room, following golf rounds.

The club welcomes new members, and to get involved, women can sign up at the 108 Golf Resort pro shop.

On May 8, the club will hold its Ice Breaker Tournament, with team members using the roll of dice at each hole to determine whose score is tallied on the group's scorecard. The first tee time is 10 a.m., with lunch and prizes to follow.

On May 9, the Ladies Day Criers Tournament takes place, during which golfers will substitute their three worst holes for par.
