Wranglers take 2-0 game lead into Chase

Wranglers win 3-2 in triple overtime on Brett Harris' short-handed goal

It was a tired but happy crowd that walked out of the 100 Mile House hockey rink on Saturday night, as they watched the Wranglers nip the Chase Heat 3-2 in triple overtime on a short-handed goal by local hockey product Brett Harris.

The teams were tied at one at the end of the first period, while the Wranglers had a 2-1 going into the third. Chase got the tying goal at with just over seven minutes left in the third.

Nothing was decided in the first two overtime periods but both squads had glorious scoring opportunities.

Wranglers' Zane Steeves and Chase goalie Nic Bruyere stood on their heads as they got a piece of every puck that was shot at them.

In the end, it was Harris who got a partial breakaway from centre ice, and while Heat players whacked and poked at him, the Don Birks Division scoring leader slipped the puck through Bruyere's 5 hole for the win.

The 100 Mile House Wranglers travel to Chase for games 3 and 4 on March 7 and 8.
