Wranglers in gold-medal match today at 2 p.m.

100 Mile House lads want to hoist Cyclone Taylor Cup

There was a bit of concern for all of the coaches about how the pairings for the medal games was going to work out for the Cyclone Taylor Cup.

100 Mile House Wranglers coach Dale Hladun knew his boys would have to win their game against the Campbell River Storm in the game 3 matchup.

If the Victoria Cougars won their game against the Mission City Outlaws, then Victoria and 100 Mile House would face each other for the second time - this time in the gold-medal tilt - the game that really matters.

If, however, the Outlaws knocked of the Cougars and the Wranglers beat Campbell River, there were be a three-way log jam on on the leader board with three teams having 2-1 records.

Goals for and against would the determine which team would be relegated to the bronze medal game.

On April 9, however, the Victoria Cougars beat Mission City 7-5 and the Wranglers got by Campbell River 4-3.

Game 3 victory

The Wranglers jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first period on goals by Nick McCabe (Alex Meeker, Justin Bond), and by Meeker (Alex Hanson).

Campbell River's Brett Kinley (Alex Rosolowsky, Christian Brandt) cut the lead in half at 18:41 of the second stanza.

However, McCabe (Bond) restored the two-goal margin to 3-1 at 1:29 left in the second.

Campbell River came storming back in the third period, as Josh Coblenze (Colin Blake) found the back of the Wranglers net to make the score 3-2 at 8:33.

Then at 6:12, Cole Stanley (Rosolowsky, Blake) knotted the score at three apiece.

Bond (Hanson) got the game winner with two minutes left on the clock.

That means the Wranglers take on the Victoria Cougars in the Archie Browning Sports Centre at 2 p.m. today (April 10).

Canlan Ice Sports will be televising the goal-medal game in the arena today (April 10), with the puck dropping at 2 p.m. Doors at the arena on Airport Road in 100 Mile House open at 1:30 p.m.

The game is also being streamed live on the Cyclone Taylor Cup website.
