The 100 Mile House Wranglers lost their first game in the Doug Birks Division playoffs when they were nipped by the Chase Heat 3-2 in double overtime in their barn on March 7.
Wranglers coach Dale Hladun has said the division finals would be a tight series with 100 Mile House and Chase being equally matched.
He was certainly not expecting another sweep, and the two squads won four and lost four in head-to-head regular season games.
After winning the first two games, Hladun said the Wranglers would have to tighten up on Chase's two offensive-minded defencemen Trevor Okino and Braden Hughes who were both adept at jumping up into the play in the offensive zone – creating and scoring goals.
Hughes scored a goal and helped set up the winning marker in overtime.
The Wranglers got goals from Justin Bond (Brett Harris) and Harris (Ryan Friesen). Goalie Zane Steeves was named the Wranglers star of the game, and turned away 46 of Chase's 49 shots.
