Story contest underway

Start with "It was a dark and stormy night” and fill in the rest

The South Cariboo Writers' Guild is following up on the success of its spring poetry contest with a fall short story contest and Halloween is the theme.

Entries should be 500-1,000 words long and start with the line, "It was a dark and stormy night."

Stories are to be submitted through the guild website at www.southcariboowriters.com or by e-mail kimberly.vanderhorst@gmail.com.

Submissions close at midnight on Oct. 30, and the winner will be announced on Halloween.

The winner will have his or her story published on the guild website, and will receive a $50 gift certificate to Nuthatch Books. All ages and skill levels are welcome.
