While a residence in Williams Lake is still being secure, the school district, local university and area residences have been notified that they can continue with their daily activities.
Around 4 a.m. today (April 25), the Williams Lake RCMP received a report that shots had been fired at a residence in the 900 block of Western Avenue in Williams Lake.
Officers attended the scene and determined that an unknown subject(s) had fired several shots at the residence.
It is believed to be a targeted incident as the residence was recently occupied by an individual who claimed to be a local gang member, but the house is currently occupied by a family with no criminal connections.
No one was injured in this incident.
Shortly after officers arrived on scene, another shot was heard from an unknown direction, which resulted in heightened vigilance by the officers.
As a precaution, the Williams Lake RCMP notified the local School District #27, university, and area residents of the situation and recommended everyone stay away from the area until further notice.
Police have seized a firearm and currently have one person in custody connected to this incident.
