Local Junior B hockey team eliminated from playoffs

100 Mile House Wranglers knocked out by 2-1 score in Kamloops

Although the 100 Mile House Wranglers played with a lot of grit and got on the scoreboard first, penalties in the second period led to a 2-1 loss to the Kamloops Storm in Kamloops on March 7.

For the second consecutive season, the Wranglers have been eliminated by the Storm in the Kootenay International Junior Hockey League Round 2 of the playoffs.

Last season, the 100 Mile House lads were swept, but this season – down three games to none – the Wranglers grabbed a 4-1 victory in game 4, and hopes were high for a comeback.

All of the games were closely contested in the playoffs, and it bodes well for the Wranglers next season.

Wranglers' Austin Turner opened the scoring at 14:19 of the first, with assists going to Cole Zimmerman and Brady Ward.

Then the Wranglers ran into penalty problems in the second stanza and it cost them dearly. The Storm

notched power-play markers at 13:30 and 11:47, and that was the end of the scoring in the game.

Kristian Stead turned aside 36 of 38 shots and was named the Wranglers player of the game.
