Dynamiters even series at one game apiece

Kimberley put in a 60-minute effort for a convincing 4-1 win

Game 2 for the 2016 Kootenay International Junior Hockey League (KIJHL) Championship in Kimberley on March 27 was a complete reversal of the first tilt on March 26, when the 100 Mile House Wranglers won 2-1.

The Kimberley Dynamiters dominated in game 2, and were led by their team captain Jason Richter who notched a natural hat-trick in the 4-1 victory.

The Dynamiters were up 2-0 at the end of the first period on Richter's first two goals.

Wranglers Justin Bond (Brent Harris, Tavis Roch) closed the gap to 2-1 at 19:05 of the second frame with a power-play marker.

Three minutes later, Richter potted his hat-trick goal and upped the margin to 3-1.

An empty-net marker by Tanner Wit (Jordan Busch) sealed the deal for Kimberley with 13 clicks on the clock.

Wranglers goalie Zane Steeves saved 26 of 29 Kimberley shots, and Dynamiters goalie Tyson Brouwer stopped 21 of 22 100 Mile House shots.

The championship series now switches to 100 Mile House for games 3, 4 and 5 at the South Cariboo Rec. Centre, with the puck dropping at 7 p.m.
