Cariboo Artists’ Guild looking for youth art

Guild hosts Children and Youth Art Competition this summer

The Cariboo Artists’ Guild is holding its inaugural Children and Youth Art Competition as part of its annual Summer Art Show and Sale to be held at Parkside Gallery from July 25 to Sept. 6.

Students from all local schools are eligible to participate. The theme is “How I plan to spend my 2014 summer vacation.”

There will be four age categories: six to eight, nine to 11, 12 to 15, and 16 to 18.

All pieces will be judged by professional artists. Four ribbons and one first-place prize will be awarded in each age group.

Maximum size is 12 by 16 inches and work can be completed on art paper or canvas in any art medium except crayon.

Winning entries will be on display in the gallery for the duration of the show.

Entries are to be submitted without backing or hanging provisions and must include name, age, school, and phone number on the back.

Entries can be delivered to Parkside Gallery, 401 Cedar Ave., between June 23 and July 15. Parkside's hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday to Friday, and from noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday.
