Interlakes food producers never fail to have plenty of quality local produce on display at the annual Bridge Lake Fair.

Everyone will enjoy the 59th Bridge Lake Fair at Interlakes Community Centre on Aug. 21.

The fair is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Adults pay $2 to get in, while seniors (65-plus) and children aged five to 11 pay $1, so it’s a really cheap day of fun.

More than 500 entries will have been received on Aug. 20, and judged that evening. The display and demos are always extraordinarily colourful, aromatic and interesting.

For the children, there are cakewalks on the hour; and old-fashioned races on the half hour.

They will also love all the cuddly little animals, and this year, for the first time, the fair is offering wagon rides with Funky Acres Farm’s beautiful and enormous draft horses, and with Seabloom Mini Ranch’s wee horses and cart.

Musicians will entertain you all day, and you can see Spanish dancing in the hall at noon.

This year, look for the Fairy Gardens and the Bernardin craft contest, in addition to the perennial Container Contest, which will be created in broken plant pots.

There’s food galore with Highway 24/Interlakes Lions feeding the hungry, and Interlakes Youth Group Teen Space providing cookies and squares in the tea-room. Teen Space will also hold a bake sale for the express purpose of providing the Duits children with a little extra after their devastating house fire.

A silent auction comprises generously-donated items from local businesses to raise funds to get the 2017 fair started.

Stay a while afterwards and bid on delicious edible entries donated by fair entrants.

Every visitor has a chance at the beautiful gift basket door prize.
